(IMIDRO) - Pilot production of Venezuela cement plant launched in a ceremony attended by Iranian Industry, Mine and Trade Minister, Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, Chairman of IMIDRO, Mehdi Karbasian, Venezuelan Industries Minister, Wilmer Barrientos and a number of Venezuelan officials.

The cement plant with annual production capacity of one million tonnes is one of the reactivated projects of IMIDRO that was resumed about eight months ago.
Launching ceremony of Cerro Azul cement plant was held at the same time as the Eighth Iran-Venezuela Economic Commission and officials of the two sides observed progress of implementation stage of the project during their visit.
The cement plant, built by Ehdas Sana'at Company, an affiliated company of IMIDRO, will officially inaugurate in the near future.
Venezuelan Industries Minister thanked Iranian officials for resuming cement plant project.
The Venezuelan vice Minister of Productivity Management and head of cement projects, Raúl Pacheco, for his part, demanded that exploitation and production stages within the next 12 months carry out by Ehdas Sana'at.
During the visit, Iranian Industry, Mine and Trade Minister and Venezuelan Industries Minister signed a cooperation document. Also a cooperation document was signed by Karbasian and Pacheco to extend the contract of Iran’s Ehdas Sana'at Company and Cerro Azul Cement.
After signing of the agreement, Chairman of IMIDRO said Cerro Azul cement plant project is on track to complete and will be inaugurated in the near future.
Karbasian continued that setting up one million tonnes Cerro Azul plant in Venezuela indicate capabilities of Iranian experts in the heart of Latin America.
"With experiences that Iran has achieved in building and implementing local cement projects, we consider international project as an opportunity to export techno-engineering services and gain national and regional credibility and we proved our capability in Venezuelan project", he added.
The investment for setting up the plant amounted to 273 million euros and the project realized with investment of Venezuelan side and Ehdas Sana'at provided techno-engineering services.
