    • Non-government sources fund 90% of IMIDRO projects

      Tehran, Nov 3, IRNA – Deputy Industry, Mines and Trade Minister Mehdi Karbasian said 90% of the funds for implementation of projects belonging to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) are being maintained by non-government sources (private sector, finance, etc.).

      Speaking at the general assembly of the organization, Karbasian said based on IMIDRO planning for presence of private sector, the cost projected by the 11th government for implementation of projects by the organization has amounted to 37,000 billion rials and the remaining has been provided by the non-government sources.

      He said prior to the administration of the government of ‘prudence and hope’, government fund for the implementation of projects by the organization stood at 241,650 billion rials.

      However, he added, out of the 29 projects for implementation contractors have been chosen for seven while some of the projects have started implementation with the participation of private sector.

      He pointed to provincial steel projects in which the private sector holds a presence of 65%, implementation of complementary phases of Sangan with 51% participation of the private sector, formation of the private sector consortium with steel companies in the implementation of graphite electrode project and presence of the private sector in the implementation of projects for development of Mines 5 and 6 of Gol Gohar as part of the projects.
