    • Two copper projects to become operational this month

      Tehran, Nov 24, IRNA – Head of the board of directors of Iran National Copper Company Mehdi Karbasian said two copper development projects will be put into operation this month in Songon, East Azarbaijan Province and Sarcheshmeh, Kerman Province, with a capacity of 150 thousand tons each, totally producing 300 thousand copper concentrates.

      Speaking to IRNA, Karbasian said in addition to the two projects another two with a capacity of 50 thousand tons of copper concentrate each are among other plans projected in Songon complex.

      Karbasian, also Chairman of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), said on the basis of new policies projects for copper development are followed up and implemented by using potentials of the private sector and invitation to investors in this sector.

      He further remarked that IMIDRO gives priority to implementation of projects by using participation of private sector, adding that since the past year up to date many semi-finished or abandoned projects have become operational through the attraction of private sector investment.

      Karbasian said tenders will be published next week for attracting investors for implementation of two copper projects, Deralou and Chah Firouz in Kerman Province.

      Deralou copper concentration project will be implemented for the construction of a plant with seven million tons of sulfur soil and 100 thousand tons of copper concentrate with an alloy of 26% in south of Kerman.

      Chah Firouz copper concentration project will be implemented for the construction of a plant with seven million tons of sulfur soil and 100 thousand tons of copper concentrate with an alloy of 26% in Shahr-e Babak, Kerman Province.

      The above-mentioned projects will be implemented with a share of 65% by private investors and 25% by Iran National Copper Company.
