Iran Plans to Export 10m Tons of Steel

Karbasian made the remarks in an address to the members of the board of directors of the Association of Steel Producers held at the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), IRNA reported.
The per capita steel production in the country currently stands at 234 kg and this should be brought closer to 400 kg through planning, said the official.
He called for an increase in steel production capacity.
Production of raw steel in the year to March 2015 reached 16.6 million tons showing an increase of 7 percent compared to the figure for the preceding year.
Meanwhile, 19.9 million tons of steel products were produced in the year to March 2105 which was an increase of two percent from the figure for the preceding year.
Industries, Mines and Trade Ministry plans to increase the production of raw steel and steel products to 18 million tons and 19 million tons respectively in the year to March 2016.
