Spanish firms keen to invest in Iran's mining sector

(IMIDRO) - The International Relations Director of Spanish Confederation of Employers’ Organizations (CEOE), Jose Garcia Morales, expressed willingness of Spanish firms to invest in Iran’s mining sector in a meeting with Head of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), Mehdi Karbasian, in Tehran.

Morales said Spanish firms operating in the field of mining and mining industries particularly steel production, supplying equipments and parts as well as extraction are ready to cooperate with Iran.
He added we can explore more grounds of mutual cooperation between IMIDRO and CEOE.
Following his remarks, Spanish Ambassador to Iran, Pedro Villena, pointed to Iranian economy's exit from recession and reining in inflation and indicated Spanish government and CEOE are interested in cooperating with Iran in the field of technology, mine and mining industries.
He also referred to participation of a number of Spanish mining firms in Iran Mine and Mining Industries Summit (IMIS) that will take place in Tehran on 15-16 December 2014.

Mehdi Karbasian, Chairman of IMIDRO, for his part, said the organization is ready to attract private and foreign investments in the fields of exploration, extraction and processing of minerals.
Pointing to easing of sanctions, he stated there are good opportunities for mutual cooperation and investment of Spanish firms can be defined as concession or joint venture in which IMIDRO's share would up to 49 percent.
He went on to say development plans of IMIDRO including production of 55 million tonnes of steel, 1.5 million tonnes of aluminum, 200 million tonnes of mining products, 800,000 tonnes of copper as well as beginning mining exploration of 250,000 km2 provide investment opportunities for achieving mentioned plans.
