Description of benefits of investment on Iran’s mine sector for global investors in Dubai Conference

Dr. Mehdi Karbasian Chairman of IMIDRO announced the details of development projects of IMIDRO in the mine and mining sector in the 18th Steel & Iron Ore Conference in Dubai hold with the presence of executive directors of the world’s large steel & investment companies.

Mehdi Karbasian speaking at the conference, said the value of IMIDRO’s projects amounts to 9 billion USD for implementation of various projects such as iron ore, Coal, steel, copper, aluminum, gold, magnesium and etc.
He said IMIDRO has already invested 17 billion USD in these sectors which led to creation of 70,000 jobs.

The deputy minister of industry, mine and trade referring to the programs and objectives related to development of Iran steel industry for 2025, said: increasing iron ore concentrate from current 24 Mt to more than 66 Mt, pelletizing from 21 Mt to 82 Mt as well as boosting crude steel production from current 16 Mt to 52 Mt are among overall objectives of our programs in Iran. Within this landscape, Iran’s steel consumption reaches 46 Mt which will create opportunity for export of 6 Mt steel to the Middle east & European Union countries.

He further added with implementation of the underway steel projects, Iran will become the world’s largest steel producer using DRI (sponge Iron) method.
Dr, Karbasian made it clear that Iran’s crude steel capacity will be increased to 40 Mt up to 2019, which will keep Iran as the largest steel producer in the middle east region.
