A plan to establish nearly 3,000 megawatts of solar power plants in mine & mining industries
IMIDRO, along with fulfilling its developmental role and implementing the programs of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, with a deep understanding of the necessity of transitioning to clean energy, has initiated extensive measures to develop solar power plants in the field of mining industries, during the recent years.
According to IMIDRO's public relations, these actions are taken with the aim of reducing dependence on fossil fuels, optimizing energy consumption, improving productivity, and reducing environmental pollution, therefor it shows IMIDRO's strong commitment to playing a leading role in the country's sustainable development.
2958-Megawatt Solar Power Plant Program
The planning carried out by IMIDRO and its affiliated large mining companies includes the construction of solar power plants with a total capacity of 2,958 megawatts across the country.
Among them, the National Iranian Copper Industries Company with 825 megawatts, Mobarakeh Steel Company with 600 megawatts, Khuzestan Steel Company with 510 megawatts, and Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company with 130 megawatts are among the pioneers of this major transformation. These figures indicate that the mine and mining industries sector of the country, particularly under the leadership of IMIDRO, is considered one of the main leaders of solar energy development in the country.
The current year's plan:
Out of the total above mentioned capacity, approximately 215 MW has already been put into operation, with Mobarakeh Steel Company leading at 120 MW, followed by National Copper Industries Company and Chadormalu Mining Company each with 30 MW. According to the plan, around 843 MW will be added to the operational circuit by the end of the current year, which is considered a significant surge towards achieving renewable energy development goals.
