Aghajanlou: The Private Sector's Role; the focus of mining sector development in the Seventh Progress Plan / Issuance of 13 exploration licenses in Hamadan
Imidro’s Chairman of the Executive Board of Directors called the presence and investment of qualified private sector in the field of Iranian mine and mining industries as the most important actors and pillars for achieving the mining sector's 13% growth target in accordance with the Seventh Progress Plan.
According to IMIDRO's public relations, Mohammad Aghajanlou at the opening ceremony of the specialized mining exhibition in the western region of the country in Hamadan stated:
Real development in the mining sector will be achieved with the participation of the government and qualified private sector, and in this regard, the government will play its supportive and supervisory role.
He described the launching of the Mehdiabad lead& zinc mine as one of the successful examples of partnership with the private sector, and noted:
The license for this mine was issued in 1323 (Iranian calendar), and after many years and with the investment of the private sector, its first phase was launched, and the second phase has also made significant progress.
Aghajanloo stated that the government, as a specialized supervisor, should provide the infrastructure to facilitate private sector investments and added: by managing knowledge alongside mineral reserves, the country's economy will certainly benefit from high added value.
The Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade continued: IMIDRO has taken appropriate measures in the field of exploration.
Exploration Performance in Hamadan
He continued: In Hamadan province, we have 41 requests for exploration permits, of which 13 permits have been issued. hoping that the officials of Hamadan province will accelerate the issuance of permits so that we can define areas with added value.
The head of the IMIDRO noted that IMIDRO is ready to invest in areas with mineral potential, a call for 300 million tons of underground mines has been announced, and two gold mines are ready for investment, which will increase IMIDRO's gold production capacity by up to 3 times.
Aghajanloo clarified: "We have 240 exploration licenses in the country that will be offered for investment by the private sector through a call for proposals."
He said: "IMIDRO does not have any shareholding activity in the field of gemstones, but it has support programs for the private sector in the areas of exploration, training, and equipment supply, from which Hamadan province, like other provinces, can benefit."
Regarding the fulfillment of the country's steel goals, Aghajanlou stated: "By launching the Mianeh steel company, the goal of Iran's 55 million-ton steel production capacity will be achieved."
