Developing &equipping twenty-four selected centers in the country with gem cutting machines The executor of the country's gemstone industry development plan announced:
Twenty-four selected centers in the country have been developed and equipped with gem cutting machines.
According to IMIDRO’s Public Relations, Seyedabu Mohammad Hashemi, speaking at IMIDRO’s pavilion at the International Exhibition of Investment Opportunities in Mine and Mining Industries (MINEX 2025), noted: "Regarding the country's gemstone industry development plan, focusing on market-oriented cutting and looking at global markets, selected training centers of the country have been equipped with gem cutting machines."
While referring to the National Gemstone Development Document, the executor of the country's gemstone industry development plan stated:
"This document is a collection of gemstone discoveries on the market and the presence of Iranian gemstones in foreign markets. He continued: In the implementation of this document, eight ministries, as well as 20 governmental and non-governmental organizations and institutions are involved under IMIDRO’s management and based on the division of duties in accordance with the law, they carry out activities for the development of the gemstone industry and present reports at the meetings of the Steering Council for the Development of the Country's Gemstone Industry under the management of t IMIDRO’s Chairman of the Executive Board of Directors.
Hashemi pointed out: According to the Gemstone Document, in two 5-year plans, Iran's share of the gemstone industry should reach 1 and 2 percent of the world's gemstone market. The relevant plan was also formed to develop the aforementioned industry in IMIDRO.
Positive results of free import of raw gemstones
The executor of the country's gemstone industry development plan declared: “until late last year, the import of raw gemstones into the country was prohibited, and through the uninterrupted follow-up, this law was amended and now the import of raw gemstones is free and is considered as raw materials for the industry."
Market-oriented training for gemstones in 31 provinces
The executor of the country's gemstone industry development plan, pointed out that in order to enter global markets, the issue of training was included in the program and stated: "Since the beginning of the formation of the gemstone document, we have pursued market-oriented training for gemstones in 31 provinces."
He added: "So far, 7,500 thousand people have been trained in general gem cutting.”
Special focus on the diamond:
Hashemi, noting that in the diamond field, out of the forty-five activities proposed in the National Gemstone Document, six are dedicated to diamonds."
He continued: "For the first time since the revolution, we are working comprehensively on the issue of diamond cutting, and to develop this field, we need to import the necessary technical knowledge and equipment. Fortunately, by conducting gem cutting training in thirty-one provinces of the country, the necessary platform has been provided for entering the diamond field.”

Hashemi added an important issue that we are pursuing, is branding Iranian activists and gems. Therefore, we can introduce individuals and products to the world in the name of Iran based on their characteristics.
