A Pilot Project for Recycling Heavy Tires in Muteh Mine/launching /The First Step from a Resource-Based Economy toward a Knowledge-Based Economy
In order to realize the knowledge-based economy and the development of green technologies
in the mining industry, a joint specialized meeting was held between Tooraj Zare, Managing
Director of Iran Minerals Production and Supply Company, and a group of managers and
researchers of Isfahan University of Technology and IMPASCO.
This meeting was held focusing on reviewing the process of the executive heavy tire recycling
project of industrial machinery and the readiness for the pilot operation of this project in the
Muteh Mining Complex.
Engineer Zare, emphasizing the strategic importance of the above project, stated: 'This plan can
be a turning point in focusing on effective steps from a resource-based economy toward a
knowledge-based economy in the country's mine and mining industries.'
Dr. Seyed Mehdi Abtahi, Head of Isfahan University of Technology, Dr. Hamid Reza Safavi, his
research deputy, Dr. Seyed Hadi Hosseini, Director of this project and Head of the Mining
Research Institute of this university, along with Manijeh Gholamrezaei, IMPASCO’s planning
deputy, and Abbas Jafari, Research director, attended this meeting.
The mentioned project, with the scientific management of Isfahan University of Technology and
the executive support of IMPASCO, uses pyrolysis technology (indirect heat) to recycle worn-
out tires.
The recycling process leads to product three main products:
- Carbon Black
- Steel wire
- Hydrocarbon liquid
Also, the gas obtained from this process is used as fuel in the heat creation of the furnace,
which indicates the energy efficiency and sustainable approach of the project.
This project is not only an effective step in industrial waste management and reducing
environmental pollutants, but also paves the way for the development of domestic
technologies, knowledge-based employment, improving productivity in the mining industries,
and strengthening the recycling and circular economy.
