The second unit’s operation of the largest seawater desalination complex in Iran under the leadership of IMIDRO / WASCOs desalination capacity increased to 400,000 cubic meters per day

According to IMIDROs public relations, the second unit of the Bandar Abbas desalination plant,
-capacity of 70 million cubic meters per year-, was inaugurated during the current month with
the presence of Dr. Pezeshkian, the President.
The second desalination unit of Bandar Abbas has been constructed by the Persian Gulf Water
Supply and Transmission Company (WASCO), with the shareholding of mining companies,
facilitated and led by IMIDRO,-thanks the efforts of Iranian experts-, relying on domestic &
indigenous knowledge and the latest scientific achievements, and using the most advanced
equipment in the world, with a capacity of 70 million cubic meters per year, by Asia Water
Development Engineering Company, a subsidiary of WASCO.
Operation of this complex increases the desalination capacity to 140 million cubic meters of
water per year.
WASCO’s Managing Director stated: The Persian Gulf Water Supply and Transmission Company
(WASCO), under the leadership of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade and the prominent
role of IMIDRO, and with the efforts of Gol-Gohar Mining and Industrial Company, National
Copper Industries Company of Iran, and Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company, has been
established and, with their support, as one of the largest leading companies in this field, is
responsible for the vital mission of providing sustainable water for industries and water-scarce
regions of the country.
Ehsan Ansari added: A large part of the project's financial resources was provided with the
support of IMIDRO and the guidance of its subsidiaries and affiliates.
A “MOU” for the construction of the third and fourth desalination units inked in the presence of
the President between Mohammad Ashouri, Governor of Hormozgan, and Ehsan Ansari, CEO of
the Persian Gulf Water Supply and Transfer Company (WASCO).
