Electric Arc Furnaces’ Modernization & Renovation in the Steel Industry Begins / MMTE Group to Participate in the Renovation and Optimization of Khuzestan Steel Melting Furnaces

A comprehensive joint “MOU” was inked between Mines and Metals Technological Engineering
Group (MMTE) and South Steel Pishgaman Consultant Engineers company to redesign and
optimize the operational processes of selected electric arc furnaces in the Khuzestan Steel
Complex.

According to IMIDRO's public relations, in the inking ceremony of cooperation documents,
attended by Hassan Shahrokhi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fanavaran Mining and
Metals Engineering Company, and Hossein Kohzad, Managing Director of Shadegan Steel
Complex, the “MOU” for the partnership between these two companies was exchanged
between Mehrdad Naji, Managing Director of MMTE Group, and Mehran Yaghut, Managing
Director of South Steel Pishgaman Consultant Engineers Company.

Accordingly, based on the conducted studies, several steelmaking furnaces at Khuzestan Steel
Complex will be designed, refurbished, and renovated according to a specified timetable.
Creating technological self-sufficiency in developing the steelmaking value chain through the
localization of technical knowledge for designing and optimizing the performance of older-
generation furnaces in steelmaking companies, in addition to improving production efficiency
and reducing metal melting times, enables substantial savings in energy consumption in
production processes at Khouzestan Steel Complex as part of managing energy imbalance.

This year in Ordibehesht (Iranian Calendar), the MMTE group announced that it had achieved
the technical knowledge to design, manufacture, and functionally optimize new-generation
electric arc furnaces (EAF) and ladles in the steel industry.
