In order to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize water consumption—through
optimal energy management and a shift toward green steel—we are working on the design of
smart factories.
Development Measures in the Green Steel Sector
Samiei-Nejad declared: The use of hydrogen gas has commenced in one steel production unit,
and we are currently monitoring its outcomes. In addition, the establishment of a Green Steel
Laboratory is underway through a “MOU” inked with a reputable Iranian university. IMIDRO is
actively investing in the laboratory’s equipment and infrastructure.
Thermal Recovery Engineering Achievement
He added: We have achieved thermal recovery engineering from direct reduction furnaces as
part of our transition toward green steel, and we are planning to launch an international tender
in this regard soon.
The Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, while referring to the organization’s policy on
steel scrap usage, stated: This organization's priority is increasing the use of steel scrap to
reduce energy consumption and extend the life of the country’s mineral reserves, to
operationalize scrap utilization across the steel value chain.
