IMIDRO's actions to ensure a Sustainable electricity supply for mines and mining industries.
According to IMIDRO's public relations, Mohammad Massoud Samiei Nejad at the monitoring meeting for the construction of power plant projects for mine and mining industries noted: Providing electricity to this sector is one of IMIDRO's main priorities due to its role in the production of basic metal products, exports, and supplying the country with foreign currency.
The Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, referring to IMIDRO's initial agreement with the National Development Fund, declared: Considering the electricity shortage, we are obliged to supply part of the needs of the mine and mining industries from investors who use that fund’s facilities.
Samiei Nejad also pointed to the power plant construction plans by major mining companies and mineral industries, and continued: The created electricity generation capacities (related to the Law on Removing Obstacles to the Development of the Electricity Industry) have reached about 3,000 MW, which, considering the capacity building of previous years, the total of this figure has reached the threshold of 6,000 MW.
The Head of IMIDRO also stated: According to the above law, the creation of another 6,000 MW of new capacity is the responsibility of this sector.
According to Samiei Nejad, a number of new power plants will be operational before peak electricity consumption and by the oncoming spring.
The Deputy minister emphasized: While companies in this sector have made significant investments in electricity generation and its supply to the national grid, they still face power outages, an issue that requires cooperation from higher-level institutions to minimize losses to the production sector and the country’s foreign exchange earnings.
