During the meeting, French partner presented its report including market and bankable feasibility studies of petroleum coke project, chairman of the board of IMIDRO announced.
Petroleum coke plant project as one of the development projects of IMIDRO defined aimed to meet the needs of countries aluminum industry.
This project will be performed for the first time in Iran .The project’s main pilot was launched with cooperation of Research Institute of Petroleum Industry in September 2015 in semi- industrial scale in order to test technology, Karbasian said.
He noted the quality of economic index of this project and said: “before JCPOA, creditable foreign companies have not been allowed to participate the project but since September 2015, negotiations have been started with foreign companies and finally France’s Axens Company was selected as a consultant to perform bankable feasibility studies of the project.
Karbasian added that bankable feasibility studies of the petroleum coke plant project were started in April 2015 and finished by January 2017.
Chairman of the board of IMIDRO expressed that construction of petroleum coke production plant defined in line with Resistance Economy in order to complete country’s aluminum production chain.
Karbasian noted the aluminum development plan in Iran and said:” at the present, aluminum industry requires 200thousand tonnes petroleum coke which we supply through import from other countries. It’s predicted that the required petroleum coke will reach 700 thousand tonnes in 2025 outlook”.
Construction of petroleum coke plant will be performed in Arvand Free Zone in Khuzestan province.
