Inauguration of Mianeh DRI Plant Equipped with PERED Technology

According to the report of public relations of IMIDRO, after Shadegan DRI Plant, Mianeh DRI Plant is the second plant equipped with PERED Technology. This plant has production capacity of 800 thousand tonnes DRI per year.

Mianeh DRI Plant was one of the provincial steel projects in ninth government which was postponed. But in 11^th government IMIDRO succeeded to remove the finance barriers by participation of private sector.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of Mianeh DRI Plant, Jahangiri announced: “now we witness using Iranian reduction technology PERED in Iranian DRI plants while during the recent years we only used Midrex technology for DRI production in Iran.

He expressed that in first quarter of the current Iranian year (21March-21June) Iran’s economic growth increased over 7 percent and Iran’s economic growth in last Iranian year (ended20 march 2017) up 12 percent compared with the corresponding period of the last year, which also announced by International Monetary Fund (IMF).

In inauguration ceremony, Mohammad Shariatmadari, Industry, Mine and Trade Minister said during 2013 to 2017 this ministry‘s activities in steel industry was concentrated on balancing the production chain.

He explained that in line with this purpose pelletizing projects increased by 90percent with government’s support and also rolling projects didn’t pass 26 percent in order to achieve a reasonable balance in production.

In this ceremony, Mehdi Karbasian, chairman of the board of IMIDRO noted IMIDRO’s actions in exploration sector and said IMIDRO’s focus in 12^th government will be on new mining explorations.

Karbasian declared that since 2014 and coincidence with start of IMIDRO’s exploration plan in an area of 250 thousand square kilometers, about 3 thousand square kilometers of East Azerbaijan and Mianeh were explored.
