Steel Output Tops 13m Tons in 10 months

The figures showed that Iran's total steel production from January to October stood at 13.611 million tons, indicating a 0.7-percent growth against the figure for the same period last year despite the cruel economic sanctions against the country.
In the same period last year, Iran produced 13.51 million tons of steel.
Earlier in February, a master plan devised by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) was released, based on which the country is planning to raise its steel production capacity by 11.6 million tons in collaboration with a number of domestic and foreign companies.
Iran is the biggest steel producer in the Middle East and North Africa. The country's main steel production facilities are located in Isfahan and Khuzestan provinces.
The World Steel Association is one of the largest and most dynamic industry associations in the world. It represents approximately 170 steel producers — including 9 of the world's 10 largest steel companies — national and regional steel industry associations, and steel research institutes. Its members account for around 85 percent of world steel production.
