Inking a” MOU” for the Completion of the First Coal Power Plant in the Country in Tabas / Aghajanlou: This project is a prelude to the development of thermal coal’s use
The memorandum of understanding for the completion of the country's first coal power plant project was inked in the presence of the First Deputy Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, the Minister of Energy and the Deputies of the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade.
According to Imidro’s Public Relations, the inking ceremony of the "Memorandum of Understanding for the Partnership of the Public Sector with the Private Sector in the Thermal Power Plant and Mazino Coal Mine in Tabas" completion ,was attended by Mohammad Aghajanlou, Chairman of the Executive Board of Directors of Imidro, vajihollah Jafari, Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine&trade and Seyyed Mohammad Reza Hashemi, Governor of South Khorasan.
Aghajanlou stated: The mine and mining industries sector, despite all the sanctions and challenges of energy supply, despite all the sanctions and challenges in energy supply, have reached the goals of 2025 and full capacity.
The Necessity of Development in the Field of Electricity and Gas
Referring to the importance of balanced development, especially the supply of gas and power plant infrastructure, Mohammad Aghajanlou noted:
Due to the increase in energy costs, mining companies and mineral industries are currently operating at the break-even point of costs and profits. However, we hope to achieve better conditions in energy supply with the cooperation and collaboration of the Ministry of Energy and Oil.
The Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade emphasized: In order to form a consortium, the project of the Tabas Mazino Coal Thermal Power Plant has been reactivated with the efforts & follow-ups of the Ministries of Industry, Mine and Trade & Energy.
Aghajanlou continued:” Nowadays, mine and mineral companies are also making efforts in the construction of renewable power plants, and it is necessary for other organizations, including the Environmental Protection Organization, to provide more support”.

The Mazino coal thermal power plant project in Tabas has been one of the incomplete projects for about two decades, regarding the visit of Mohammad Bagher ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, to the Tabas County and the follow-ups by the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade and IMIDRO, has now reached the stage of inking a MOU.
The capacity of the first phase of this project is to produce 650 megawatts of electricity, can be doubled in the second phase.
