‎Aghajanlou: Circular economy is the appropriate way to develop the mine sector and mining industries

According to the public relations of IMIDRO, Mohammad Aghajanlou began his opening remarks at the fifteenth event of mine and mining industries in Iran titled 'The Circular Economy is essential for productivity in the steel industry of Iran.'

‎The Deputy Minister of Industry,Mine and Trade, enumerating a set of factors affecting the increase in productivity, declared:" Achieving this goal requires a combination of basic issues such as technical, financial and investment, modern knowledge and management, along with cooperation and interaction with the private sector‎.

‎He continued : the mentioned factors are not only limited to the steel industry, but also include other mineral chains, including gold, copper, and rare and strategic elements.

Today, a small part of our steel production has a high added value, while the average of this index in the world is 10 percent and in some countries it is above 50 percent.‎

A global perspective instead of a local one

He considered the factory construction’s location as one of the influential factors for competitive pricing and productivity surge, and stated:” we should focus on economic factors in production and shift local and regional perspectives to an international and global view.”

Aghajanlou, regarding the importance of producing low-carbon and green steel, stated: the steel value chain should be directed towards having the highest added value, and this approach, using knowledge-based companies and the capabilities of domestic engineers, can be a facilitator and bring mining industries closer to global standards.

" One-dimensional view of the environment “criticizing

While criticizing the one-dimensional view of the environment, he noted "Having a zero-and-one view of the environment's field does not help development. Rather, we must continue activities through the interaction of the two fields and the co-operation of employers, contractors, academic and scientific centers.

Downstream Development

Aghajanlou emphasized that quantitative development of steel is not needed, but rather development in the downstream chain using large holdings is required. IMIDRO’s Chairman of the Executive Board of Directors declared:" Connecting to the global production chain in this field must correspond to gaining a share of global markets to have a share of global production.

‎Aghajanlou emphasized the issue of education and stated: "Currently, consulting companies should provide solutions for a new approach to the steel master plan."‎

IMIDRO has not only various plans in the steel sector but also in other areas, including gold, copper, and rare and strategic elements. We will pursue the resilience of companies and diversification in product portfolios in collaboration with the private sector.
