The 800,000-ton Sefiddasht steel plant was inaugurated under the order of President Dr. Pezeshkian, with the presence of the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, and national and provincial officials.

All environmental and sustainability aspects of the Sefiddasht Steel Company's steelmaking plant have been considered, due to minimize pollution, this industrial unit is equipped with a complete dust collector. The projects for constructing an oxygen unit, water supply, and a 400 kV power substation are also included within this project.

Regarding the sponge iron production in Sefiddasht Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Steel Company and the construction of a steelmaking and continuous casting unit in this industrial complex, this project has completed the steel production chain. In addition to creating added value, it also prevents the transportation of sponge iron as a raw material for steel production to Mobarakeh Steel Company, which significantly reduces costs.

The direct employment by Sefiddasht steelmaking and casting unit, including support and contractor sections, is approximately 800 people, and the indirect employment is 4,000 people.

Project Specifications

The country's first all-Iranian steelmaking plant without the presence of foreign experts installed, completed, and launched without the presence of foreign experts. The steelmaking and casting unit of Sefiddasht Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari consists of the MME consortium ( the technology provider), the technical and engineering company "Fooladpaye" as the executive arm, and another Iranian company as the finance supplier.

‎About 60% of the equipment of this steelmaking unit has been completely supplied inside the country, and the other 40% of it has been supplied through imports, which has also been engineered by one of the domestic companies.‎

‎The thickness of the slab produced in the steelmaking and casting unit of Sefiddasht is 150 mm, its width is between 800 and 1500 mm, and its length is between 6 and 12 meters, and mostly 10 meters, depending on the needs of customers.‎

The steelmaking and casting unit of Sefiddasht Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari has an electric arc furnace (EAF) with a production capacity of 170 tons of melted steel and a discharge capacity of 140 tons, a ladle furnace (LF) with a production capacity of 140 tons of melted steel, and a single-strand casting machine.

In order to supply part of the electricity needed and to compensate for the electricity limitations, Sefiddasht Steel Company is going to obtain the necessary permits to build a solar power plant.

This unit has a wastewater treatment plant that fully supplies its water needs through the treatment of municipal wastewater. In order to save and optimize water consumption, the used wastewater is recycled several times, and minimal water is used.
