    • Iran's crude steel production up by 15.6 percent

      Tehran, April 4, IRNA – IMIDRO announced that country's crude steel production in the past two months of 2015 increased by 15.6 percent compared to the same period in 2014, marking the highest growth of steel production in the Middle East.

      According to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization website, World Steel Association in its report on steel production in the different countries declared that Iran had produced 2, 774 million tons of crude steel in the months of January and February 2015, while its production in the year 2014 stood at 2,401 million tones.

      Based on the report, Iran's steel production in the said stood higher than those in other countries of the Middle East.

      Steel production growth in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in the same period stood at 3.4 and 15.1 percent respectively, but Qatar decreased its production by 7.7 percent.

      In the first two months of 2015, total steel production in 65 major steel producing countries of the world was 261 million tons while China had a minue 1.5 percent growth with a total output of 130 million tons.

      India with a 7.2 percent growth produced more than 14.5 million tons of crude steel.

      South Korea, like China, had a downward trend in steel production and by producing 11 million tons of crude steel had a negative growth of 3.6 percent.

      In the past 11 months of the Iranian calendar year of 1393, the country's crude steel production reached 15.500 million tons which showed a growth of more than 8 percent compared to the corresponding period the previous year.
