The report further added that Iran reached such an increase while the global production of the metal suffered from a reduction of 1.8%. Iran produced 3.729 million tons of raw steel in the first quarter of 2014.
Meanwhile, Iran’s March production was registered at 1.315 million tons which showed a drop of 1% as compared to the same period last year which was 1.329 million tons.
International steel product in the first quarter of the current year surpassed 400 million tons which was 1.8% less than the corresponding figure for a year ago.
According to the report, steel production of Chinese companies also dropped by 1.7% in the first three months of the current year while Indian companies registered an increase of 9.4%.
During the period the Chinese produced 200 million tons, the Indians 22.7, the Japanese 26.7, the South Korean 16.6 and the US 19.9 million tons in which the Japanese, the Korean and the Americans registered a drop of 3% , 6.5% and 19.9%, respectively in comparison with the first three months of 2014.
Iran and India together with 15 non-aligned countries are active in the field of steel production and the Indians, with a monthly production of over 7 million tons, stand in the first place which is followed by Iran with a monthly production level of 1.2 to 1.3 million tons.
Iran is the 14th steel maker of the world and it is expected that production capacity of the country increase from the present 22 million tons to 55 million tons by 2025.
